MARY E. TOMZACK is the President and Founder of FranchiseHelp, Inc. She is a noted franchise expert and the author of Tips & Traps When Buying a Franchise (First publication,1994,McGraw-Hill; new and completely updated, revised edition, 1999,Source Book Publications). Ms. Tomzack is often interviewed for franchise articles in publications such as The New York Times, "Franchise World" and "Entrepreneur Magazine."Prior to forming FranchiseHelp, Ms. Tomzack researched and wrote on general business topics for the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) where she authored the book Going Global: Strategies and Techniques for New Multinationals. In addition, she was a part-owner in two franchised businesses, and has owned and operated a fragrance manufacturing and marketing company, which she successfully sold in 1989. Educational credits include a B.S. Degree from Pennsylvania State University, an M.B.A. in Marketing Management from Pace University and attendance at NYU.
LYNIE ARDEN is the Editor of FranchiseHelp OnLine. She is a veteran business writer with over 20 years of experience. Among her extensive list of published books are 220 Best Franchises to Buy (Random Books) and Franchises You Can Run From Home (John Wiley & Sons). In addition, she has written numerous articles on franchising including cover stories for national business magazines. Lynie has also taught aspiring entrepreneurs how to start a business at three California universities.
HALIT RUGOVA - Webmaster and technical operations. Halit has extensive experience with web design, graphics and development. He also maintains the company website, designs and implements the delivery of FranchiseHelp OnLine Newsletter, maintains database and other day to day network operations. Halit earned a B.S. in Information Systems with a minor in business from Pace University in Pleasantville, NY.
MELANIE FERNANDES- Marketing Manager. Melanie handles all aspects of marketing at FranchiseHelp. Her experiences span various media like television, radio and online magazine publication. She graduated from Fordham University in Manhattan with a M.B.A. in Marketing and e-Business
MARINA DEBELJA – Sales and Marketing Associate. Marina is engaged in the sales and market research components of FranchiseHelp. She graduated from "La Sapienza" University in Rome, Italy, and she is currently completing a M.S. in International Management at Manhattanville College in New York. SHEILA LEE – Account Manager. Sheila originally started out as a fashion illustrator. Later she changed her career to advertising sales. She has a diversified background in print advertising sales, including magazines and newspapers. She has worked with Fortune 500 clients, media companies, universities, and various businesses. She is a graduate of the School of Art and Design, and the Traphagen School of Fashion in NYC.
VANESSA GOLDSCHNEIDER – Assistant Editor of FranchiseHelp OnLine, and Marketing Associate. Vanessa has years of experience in marketing, event planning, and public relations, including for Fortune 500 companies. She is our go-to person for this type of expertise for franchised companies.
Project Experts: ED TEIXEIRA is a consulting partner for FranchiseHelp. He has held top executive positions with several leading franchises in manufacturing, retail and healthcare. He has also been a franchisee of a multi-million dollar healthcare operation with six locations. Ed is the author of Franchising From The Inside Out.
CARL CARLSSON is a Franchise Development and Operations Expert. He has wide-ranging knowledge and experiences with a variety of franchise systems. He served as: Managing Director of Prime Sites USA, a Hotel Franchise Real Estate Investment Company; Vice President of Bullets fast food franchise system; McDonald’s Washington, DC Site Acquisitions Officer; Regional Real Estate Manager for Pizza Hut; Country Director for franchise development (USAID) in the Former Soviet Union; and Director of China Franchise Services People’s Republic China.
Educational credits include a B.A. from Brigham Young University, an M.A. from George Washington University and advanced studies in International Business Administration at Thunderbird - American Graduate School of International Management.
RICHARD CLAPSADDLE is a New York State Certified Public Accountant with over 17 years of experience. He evaluates the financial status of the franchise systems and has served clients which range in size from local businesses to multinational corporations. He is the author of numerous tax planning articles and has lectured before meetings of clients, bankers, attorneys and others. Educational credits include a graduate degree in taxation from Pace University.
