Bijoux Terner Franchise Opportunities – History
Bijoux Terner was founded in 1974 by Salomon Terner in Miami, Florida. Terner, a Cuban immigrant, fled his native country, where he had served as president of the National Association for Handbag Manufacturers. Upon arriving in the U.S. he launched a handbag manufacturing business out of the basement of a local department store. Following great success and growth of his small business, he founded Bijoux Terner in 1974, at first as a jewelry store, but soon expanding to include other fashion accessories. The company grew steadily for 20 years. In 1997, the company wanted to sell out the inventory at an underperforming kiosk at Miami International Airport, and priced everything at $10, which resulted in quick sales. Thus Bijoux Terner moved toward its model with a simple price point strategy and has grown even faster since, expanding around the world. Terner sold the business in 2006, and CEO Gabriel Bottazzi has continued to grow the company since, with no end in sight.
