Boston Pizza was founded in 1964 by Greek immigrant Gus Agioritis, who opened his first Boston Pizza and Spaghetti House in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. By 1970, he had expanded his brand to 17 locations in Western Canada, with 15 franchises. Today, there are more than 335 Boston Pizza restaurants across Canada. In 1998, the Boston Pizza franchise crossed the border into the United States, as Boston’s, with headquarters in Dallas, Texas. Boston has 51 locations in the United States and three locations in Mexico.

One of the first Boston Pizza franchises was opened by Royal Canadian Mounted Police Officer Jim Treliving, in Penticton, British Columbia, in 1969. In 1986, Boston Pizza was the official pizza supplier for Expo 86 in Vancouver.
