Old Navy Clothing

Old Navy is a clothing store owned by Gap, Inc. and is one of the top brands found within the parent company. Gap, Inc. owns a handful of different companies, and each of those companies has a different target market. Old Navy specifically targets customers who want high-quality clothing at low prices. Offering a range of clothing and accessories for kids and adults in its traditional stores, Old Navy offers great value on classic clothing.

Facts & figures

Best known for its comedic commercials featuring famous athletes, actors, and celebrities, the company uses those commercials as a way to advertise its low prices. Old Navy provides clothing and accessories for the whole family, with retail shops offering clothing for men, women, boys, girls, and even pets. Some stores also offer additional products, including home furnishings and decorations for the home.

Old Navy Clothing Franchise History

Old Navy opened in 1993 as an outlet for Gap, offering Gap clothing for prices below what the traditional stores charged. Just one year after opening, the store adopted its new name. As sales at that California store increased, Gap decided to open more stores under the same name throughout California and Pennsylvania. In 2014, Gap, Inc. announced plans to offer Old Navy franchise opportunities. Although at a high entry cost, the first franchise opened that same year and there are now plans to open several franchises to replace some of the stores the chain closed during the recession.
