Party City Franchise Opportunities – History
Party City was founded by Steve Mandell, who opened the first store in 1986 after recognizing that the party supplies market was fragmented, with mom-and-pop operations and many retailers with limited inventory. Mandell set out to specialize in party supplies and opened his 4,000-square-foot store in East Hanover, New Jersey, to immediate success. Within a year, Mandell was planning expansion and entertaining requests for franchise locations, embarking on nationwide growth, including several 12,000-square-foot mega party stores.
