Real Deals Home Decor Franchise Opportunities – History

Stan and Robin Atkins started Real Deals Home Decor out of an old cotton mill in Jefferson, Georgia, in 1998. The Atkins stacked furniture deep in a 1.5-acre second-floor space of the mill. Because of the low overhead, they were able to sell their furniture at low prices. In 2001, Jeff and Marisa Humphrey, avid customers of Real Deals Home Decor, became friends with the Atkins and renovated the first floor of the mill to start a new business, Real Deals on Furniture, with the same concept of low overhead and low prices on furniture and home decor. It was an instant success. The brand’s first franchise opened when Marisa’s sister and her husband opened a shop in Twin Falls, Idaho, and three other sisters also opened stores, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Bend, Oregon. A family business was up and running. The Humphreys bought the second-floor home furnishings business from the Atkins in 2006 and began franchising at large that year.
