Regus is an international company that rents business office space to other companies. With over 1,100 locations around the world, Regus is now the biggest provider of workspace on the globe. In addition to its traditional office and meeting spaces, Regus also furnishes virtual offices and videoconferencing abilities to companies that need such capabilities.

Regus purchased Stratis Business Centers (founded in 1997) in 2001 to establish an operation in the United States. The business weathered an initial rough patch before pulling ahead as a leading business rental franchise in the country.

Mark Dixon, a traveling English businessman, saw a hole in the market for spaces outside of hotels for out of town business people to do their work. In 1989, he opened his first Regus building in Brussels, Belgium. Since the business is all about helping companies find the space to work wherever they travel, Regus office spaces have since sprung up all around the world.

The franchisee fees and investment amount is not currently known for Regus franchisees. Regus’s website says it is looking for “imaginative” individuals with extensive business experience to partner with the company as franchisees. Regus overs four membership plans to its customers ranging from blue level, gold level, platinum level, and platinum plus. While all memberships entitle clients to a 10% discounting on office space and low rates on supplies and shipping, the higher the level, the more perks clients receive, such as complimentary refreshments, free internet, and guaranteed free walk-in office space.
